Bike the Lakefront Trail—South Loop to South Shore
The newly divided /dedicated lakefront bike & pedestrian paths, makes the journey so much more rewarding & safe. This premier recreational amenity in the city’s “front yard” gives all city residents a sense of gratitude & joy. Come share it with LSSC.
We’ll begin with the Gold Star Families Memorial with Burnham Harbor as backdrop. Next we’ll pause at the Chicago Firefighters/Paramedics Lakefront Memorial just south of McCormick Place.
Continuing south through Burnham Wildlife Corridor, past 31st St. Beach & 31st St. Harbor we’ll encounter 2 new striking lakefront access suspension bridges. Eventually we benefit from the unrivaled views of the Chicago skyline from Promontory Point in Hyde Park. Passing through Jackson Park & past The Museum of Science & Industry we’ll continue to the South Shore Cultural Center—a Chicago Landmark listed on the National Register. Of course, public artworks are featured along the path & make for great photo ops.
On the return trip we may take in the Japanese Garden in Jackson Park.
