Pepper Power!
Thanks to help from 53 volunteers, including seven members from LSSC, the Greater Chicago Food Depository inspected, bagged and packed 5,366 pounds of green peppers to be shipped to 750 food kitchens and pantries in Cook County.
The LSSC team of volunteers, including Pat Webster, Kathryn Mikel, Jane Bachmann, Monica Courson, Kathy Kirby, John Tielsch and Margaret Sheridan, gathered on March 4 for the afternoon session at the warehouse located by Midway Airport.
We sorted, inspected, bagged, tied and boxed the peppers. In 2 hours 30 minutes, we were finished. The physical work, "very meditative," agreed Pat and Monica.
