Kayak the Wild Mile -- Wednesday, July 23, 2025

The Wild Mile is a mile of floating gardens which have created biodiversity and changed the entire landscape along the river. It is attracting new wildlife and creating new spaces along what was a dead river to become engaging with the community.
Meet at The Wild Mile at 2pm. The Wild Mile is located at 1550 N. Kingsbury Street. There is plenty of parking.
Zachary Domato, co-founder of Urban Rivers will provide a 40-minute walking tour. Urban Rivers works in partnership with the City of Chicago Planning and Development, Community groups, and corporations to create a scientifically driven, eco-park to bring back diversity and wildlife to the Chicago river. The North Branch Framework envisioned a 17 acre in-stream park and builds on the vision of a renewed urban ecology for the City of Chicago and help to generate cleaner healthier water and more vibrant wildlife ecosystems.
We will enter the water on kayaks right after the waking tour or if we have a larger party of over 8 people, then we will split into two groups and the second group will do the kayak tour first.
Dinner is at 5 pm at Jiang Niu BBQ House right around the corner.
We will return at 4:30 and dinner is optional for 5 pm at Jiang Niu BBQ House.
