Fort Sheridan Wildflower Walk - Saturday, July 17, 2021 - 10 am to 4 pm
Join us for a moderately paced hike in the Fort Sheridan (Illinois) Forest Preserve that, since the days of active military there, has been restored to prairie and savanna environments. We'll see beautiful bluff views of Lake Michigan as well as oak-hickory savanna remnants.
Walkers are asked to bring a boxed lunch to enjoy after the Forest Preserve Walk in the morning. Following lunch, we'll explore the former army base, now the town of Fort Sheridan with its historic architecture and national landmark parade grounds.
After the hikes, group participants can find many eateries in nearby Highwood (about 1.5 miles south).
