2020 LSSC Annual Picnic

August 8, 2020 was a great summer Saturday for the Annual LSSC Picnic.  It was sunny, a bit warm, but with a nice breeze.  It was not a typical LSSC Picnic, but it was a fun day to catch up with friends, dance a little and play a few games.  The day started out a little confusing, because when Terry Crisitello and Linda Bazarian arrived at our picnic grove in the Bunker Hill Forest Preserve, there was another group occupying our pavilion.  Luckily, it was their mistake and they moved to their correct pavilion.  Alfred Mueller joined us to help with setting up our site.  There was plenty of hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes available to ensure our safety.

People started arriving a little after noon and the conversation and catching up began.  Everyone brought their own food and drinks, and donned colorful face masks.  Later in the afternoon we had a little competition with marshmallow golf.  John Lemm and Marty Monaghan were the big winners of the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin events.   Terry led a group of energetic attendees in a few line dances.   The party broke up about 4pm, and everyone helped with cleaning up the site and getting everything packed into Terry’s car.  It may have been a smaller group than normal, but it was great to see and talk to everyone in person.  Hopefully, next year’s picnic will be less social distanced and more typical.
