Bike the North Shore Channel Trail - Sunday, June 14, 2020

It was a perfect sunny biking weather day, when the  bemasked group of cyclists gathered in the north Chicago neighborhood of Ravenswood Manor. After meeting and greeting each other (at a healthy distance of course), we began our tour north, going by a variety of architecturally interesting homes in Ravenswood Manor (which was built in the early 1900’s, and included homes in styles bungalows, Garble-Fronts, and American Foursquares), We rode a nicely paved trail through several parks, along the North Branch of the Chicago River, and finally we entered the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park from Dempster to Touhy along the North Shore Channel.

The bike path allowed us to weave among the many sculptures, appreciating their variety and creativity. While some of us turned back, others continued north towards the Bahai Temple. But the final stop of our journey was the delightful and delicious First Slice Pie and Coffee Shop, adjacent to the Brown Line Francisco stop.

Here are some quotes from riders:

“It was fabulous today - as always.  Wonderful leader and ride choices.” -- Linda

“We enjoyed it very much.  It’s such a nice, easy trail and we enjoyed getting to know the Ravenswood Manor neighborhood." - Lucyna

Thank you Ed Hanlon for creating such an enjoyable and well planned ride.
