Happy 55th Birthday LSSC!
Lake Shore Ski & Sport Club is 55 years old and will celebrate this milestone birthday with a 3-day celebration and reunion. Planning includes great opportunities for former, current and new members to mingle, rekindle old friendships and begin new ones while sharing tales of this great club’s rich 55-year history! Dig out your favorite LSSC pics and memorabilia and plan to join the fun. The Nolans and the Fuchses are coordinating the three day reunion weekend to allow lots of opportunities to bask in the old memories and make new ones with the club’s current membership. Group hotel arrangements will be coordinated for those traveling to the reunion. DAY 1 - MEET & GREET LSSC AND ‘MAHLER’ AT MILLENIUM PARK
Happy 55th Birthday, Lake Shore! Where better to kick off the club’s reunion weekend then along the lakefront after which it was named? The first of three events is a meet and greet at Chicago’s beautiful Millennium Park! Come early, to meet and greet new and old club friends; come earlier to stroll the Promenade and Lurie Gardens, gaze at your reflection in Cloud Gate-Chicago’s ‘bean’ - and watch the ever changing Crown Fountain. Bring a blanket or chair, BYOB and snack or dish to share and sit back, relax and enjoy Mahler’s 2nd Symphony under the stars in one of Chicago’s most beautiful venues. DAY 2 - ANNUAL PICNIC Friends, Food and Fun in the Sun
Be part of the biggest and best LSSC event of the year! Join us for a day packed with lots of friends, food, and fun in the sun. The picnic offers something for everyone: Volleyball, horse shoes, bean bag and other games we can think up. It’s a time to make new friends and get acquainted with all that the club has planned for the coming year, and time to rekindle friendships and reminisce with 55th anniversary reunion participants who will happily share stories of past antics and events. The grill will be open from Noon to 4 pm. There will be games and dancing throughout the day. Come to the picnic rain or shine – we have a covered pavilion. We’ll need lots of volunteers to make this event a great success and volunteering is a great way to make new friends. Sometimes only a few minutes of your time can count a lot. We need grillers, clean up, set-up, food prep, check in, etc. So contact Paddy and Marcia to see what you can do to be a part of making this day our best. Fun is what we’re really good at … DAY 3 - Reunion Brunch
Do you remember the Newport City Joint Venture? … Shotgun Eddies? … the foam float? … the Emerald Isle or BBC? … bus trips and roommate signup sheets? … brownies (oops! Better not go there!). Take a stroll down memory lane and let us jog your memory as you enjoy a complete champagne brunch buffet. Bring your pictures, slides and memories to share. Whether you are a long-time active member, a former member, or a newcomer to Lake Shore – this is an event you won’t want to miss. Advance reservations are required, so don’t delay. Good food, good times and loads of laughs are guaranteed! |
