Back to Western Trips

After a 20 year hiatus, LSSC is returning to the beautiful Interlaken, Switzerland area. We'll travel non stop on Swissair from ORD to Zurich. Then it's a 2.5 hour commute via bus to Interlaken, the gateway to the Jungfrau area with the villages of Grindelwalk, Wengen and Murren. We'll be staying in the middle village of Wengen, which sits on a plateau at 4200 ft and is auto free (get there via tram). Our 4 star hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the village center.

The area is dominated by 3 huge mountains: Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger (yep, the same as in "The Eiger Sanction" with Clint Eastwood). There's plenty of skiing for all levels, with 4 different areas (2 in Grindelwald). Plus, it's a sledding paradise. You can also ski the world famous Lauberhorn downhill above Wengen.

The most popular attraction is the cog train ride thru the Eiger to the "Top of Europe"-the Jungfraujoch at 11,333 ft. And for non-skiers, or those taking a day off, activities include hiking trails, skating, curling and train excursions to almost anywhere you want from Interlaken.

The "jaw-dropping" scenery has to be seen to be appreciated so join your fellow LSSC members for lots of Swiss style gemutlichkeit.

OPTION: There is also an optional 3 night/4 day extension to the Hapsburg City of Vienna. This culture-rich city has so much to offer that it appeals to almost everyone. Picture yourself at a Viennese coffee haus eating a huge piece of cake mit schlag. So don't miss out on this lovely city.at a great price!

NOTE: there may be an additional surcharge due to currency changes, fuel increases, etc. that we cannot control.
