Alpine Racing Program LSSC encourages its members to participate in its racing program, both as a means to improve overall skiing ability and to have fun, plus allowing you to compete for NASTAR medals, as well as earn LSSC club medals and year-end Rewards Certificates. You can earn Reward Certificates to use towards your next event or trip! Downhill racing is fun, and now you have the chance to “cash in” on your best efforts. Here is how the program works: The Race Rewards Program will reward each category of women and men racers in Elite, A, B, C, and Novice that have placed either first or second in their respective class at the end of the season. LSSC Reward Certificates will be given out to be cashed in for a club event or trip in the following amounts: $25 Race Reward Certificates for
Women & Men that have placed 1st in their class. To qualify, a person must race in at least two trip races during a current season. The total points of a racer's two best races will be used to compute his or her year end standing. If a trip is cancelled, trip members who have signed up prior to cancellation will receive credit for participation in a club race, but no points will be awarded. Points for year-end Race Rewards Certificates are as follows: Competitors will earn bonus points equal to one extra point for each person that they beat in their category for that trip race. A maximum of 10 bonus points can be earned per race. All entrants count as persons raced against. Entrants who disqualify will be credited for having entered a race but will earn no points toward year-end Race Reward Certificates. New racers will be classified according to their first trip race. If you have not raced with LSSC in the last two years, you will be classified by your "new" first race. Racers are placed in the Elite classification if they have earned two platinum medals from NASTAR on two separate days of racing in a trip race. Current 2009 Elite classified racers will be grandfathered into this category. All racers are subject to a mid-season reclassification. There are many opportunities to participate in a trip race, and it is a positive means of improving a skiers overall ability while having fun doing so. A LSSC trip race is planned for each Western and Midwest Alpine trip, if possible. So tune up those skis, get those legs moving, and let's see if you can earn one of those Race Rewards Certificates. You can benefit in more ways than one!!! See you on the race course - - - ski safe and wear those helmets! Also, check out our Wilmot Mountain Race Training Program.Gerry Gall, Race Director |
