About the club

Lake Shore Ski & Sports Club (LSSC) is a club of active 30-60 somethings who enjoy an active lifestyle. Founded in 1955 by Ardith Mohr Laosys as Lake Shore Ski Club with 100 charter members, we now have around 450 active, sports-oriented members. Our membership includes singles as well as couples, many who have met through the club, professional people who work and live throughout the city and suburbs. LSSC has over a 50 year history of hundreds of great ski trips, sporting and social events. Our trips are top notch, well-organized and fun-filled Member feedback over the many years after each trip is completed has provided an invaluable opportunity of constantly improving trips to meet the expectations of our members.

Skiing and Snowboarding
LSSC offers an extensive program of Alpine (downhill) and Nordic (XCountry) trips to major destinations in the US, Canada and Europe. We also have short weekend or day trips to nearby Midwest ski areas. LSSC offers more ski trips for all levels of skiers and snowboarders than any other club in the Chicago area. We have free ski instruction from volunteer instructors certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) on most of our downhill and cross-country trips, primarily to help beginner skiers and those who feel a bit rusty.

Sports and Social Events
LSSC also hosts numerous sporting and social events throughout the year which attract skiers and non-skiers. Non-winter sports activities include biking, hiking, golf, tennis, boating and multi-sport trips. Events include one-day and weekend trips. This keeps us active and in touch throughout the year.

Social programs include dining, free concerts in the city, dances, cocktail parties. Traditional events include our Spring Fling (dinner dance), a Downhill Ski and XCountry Kickoff Party, and our huge Annual Picnic.
